Fostering Imagination and Learning Through Vibrant Library Spaces...

Who Are We
?

A group of library enthusiasts conceptualized a library programme under the banner of Towards Future in 2020. The group named itself Bhabook, as it aspired children to think and express freely in library spaces anchoring on their experiences of reading books. The group started its journey by partnering with like minded organizations and collaborating to design library programmes. In 2023 Bhabook registered as a library-based stand-alone entity that focuses work at libraries in schools and communities.
To support learning communities to:
Establish vibrant library spaces with a diverse contextual contemporary collection.
Expand opportunities to engage with books, ideas and the written word, meaningfully and thoughtfully.
Enable children (with a specific focus on disadvantaged and marginalized communities) to experience joy of engaging with children’s literature and develop a love for reading.

Testimonials

"Bhabook Foundation creates space for the children from primary to upper primary section where they not only read books, but also enjoy the reading and browsing books with a lot of fun. It also enables engagement of its readers in different fun-filled activities connected to reading books, and trains the educators on a regular basis. Bhabook also tries to create a bridge between readers and writers/illustrators. Bhabook is an excellent organization, and Towards Future has actively noticed a remarkable difference in first generation learners through its programmes. It is a difficult ambition to achieve, to bring out the interest for reading books amongst these kids – Bhabook Foundation successfully contributes towards the same intensively."

"Ek Tara has been associated with Bhabook for close to 2 years. What started as collaboration to help develop reading fluency among children at Ek Tara, has culminated into a Hub Library space for use not just by the children of Ek Tara but also for children from other low income schools and nonprofits. Bhabook has been instrumental in setting up the library, keeping in mind that the end user of the books are first generation school goers. They are the among the first to introduce a strong library programme at the elementary level for children from low income groups. Bhabook has not just been a knowledge partner, but also been an implementation partner and helped Ek Tara develop a greater understanding of program management. The strategy used in designing and developing the programme has been a learning experience for Ek Tara. Bhabook and Ek Tara have successfully secured a grant to to scale their joint library programme into government schools and reach out to other nonprofits working with children at the primary education level."
